Last week's track day at Castle Combe on board a 1996 Honda VFR 750. Not the ideal bike for a track day, (the pegs kept folding up) but the old girl looked after me well.

2010 Cholmondeley Castle Pageant of Power
These images were taken whilst at the recent 2010 Cholmondeley Castle Pageant of Power- basically a Goodwood Festival of Speed style event for those plucky Northerners.
As expected the food was crap and it rained.
This didn't detract from what was an enjoyable day, I was even persuaded to throw a leg over Honda's latest 750cc Shadow cruiser the Black Spirit.. Priced at £6,750 on the road, it's chuffin good value lad!

Aprilia Tuono and Tuono V4
Aprilia's handsome Tuono V-twin has been on my wish list for a while now and with the promise of the new V4 engined version based on the latest RSV4 on it's way, the itch has got stronger. Although Italian, build quilty and reliability is rumoured to be of a very high standard. An 'Italian BMW' has been said before!
Out with the old..
Out with the old..

And in with the new Tuono V4.
The new V4 engined bike is said to be lighter, more powerful and with better handling and with price approaching £10,000 you should dam well hope so. This rendering image show lines more reminiscent of a muscle bike than the original, Aprilia clearly relying on the magnificent reception of the RSV4's motor to attract buyers, although some design features may be passed over. Me, I still want the original- I must be getting old!

Visordown Online
I would like to invite my readers of Mr Motor Tweeter and Clubman Classics to try Visordown's website and join the UK's largest online biking community.
I have recently began working for Visordown and have responsibility for the reviews section of the site where we encourage owners to review their bikes, through our online reviewing function. Each week we randomly select reviewers to win some great prizes.
The site also contains road tests, features, news, a blog and much more at Visordown.com

Ravens Rock Rally
As one of the most popular events on the Carrick on Suir Motor Club calendar, The southern Ireland based Ravens Rock Rally took part in Kilkenny at the weekend and I was there to catch the action. The entry list included two E30 M3s, a raft of front and four wheel drive hatchbacks and plenty of the 'old favourite' Mk2 Escorts- it wouldn't be a real Irish rally without 'em.
Also, check out the entry of Dick Dalton and Tommy Murphy- a highly modified cossie engined MK2 Escort complete with MK3 body!

Claire and a Manx
Firstly, my apologies for not providing any blog posts over the last few weeks - I do value my readers!. Touring in Scotland and a new job working for Visordown magazine has left me without the time to contribute!
Nevertheless I think this may make up for it! Over the weekend I managed to coax my girlfriend Claire onto Dad's Manx for a truly 1950s style photo shoot! It also gave me the chance to get to grips with a new camera..
I hope you like the shots.

CAV America Honda CB450 'Manx Tribute'
Johann Keyser of CAV America, usually builds rather tasty looking official Gulf livered Ford GT40 replicas. In his spare time he has now built this 'retro mod' Manx Norton tribute Honda CB450 you see above. Intending to offer economy in the style of a cafe racer, Keyser has produced something which looks great and has some fantastic features, but what I want to know is when was a cafe racer ever meant to be economical?
A good effort in my opinion but if he wants my advice, he should stick to his gorgeous GT40s and maybe look into producing usable, reliable Tritons. Just an idea Johann..
